Razer DeathAdder 2013 review

Hello! This is my first REAL post! (the hello world thingy doesn't count for me)

Okay peeps, this is the review of the 'new' Razer DeathAdder 2013 in "Beam's Style"!!

edit: see the review here! (thai; Eng coming soon.)

Out of the Box

My first impression when I bought this gaming mouse is that ... "OMG this thing is so sexy!" The packaging is  really nice and neat, 2 stickers included and of course, the mouse itself. The mouse is quite large but fits snugly in my hand since my hand is moderately-big...

not mine.. copied from custom review credits in image.

Day 1...

After the nice first impression and all, I had to test it out (why not?). I tried it on my favorite game; point blank; a FPS game. Well, this mouse as seen from the size and it's really comfortable for palm grippers even played for 5 hours straight (but it's not so good for our eyes and back so take breaks every 20 minutes!) and the accuracy is amazing even at the lightning speed of 6400 DPI (but I never really use it for real.. just for testing and stuff). The rubber side grips make a very good thumb rest and gives you less strain for your thumb preventing it from dragging around on the mouse mat...

Customization

Well obviously, most USB-ed Razer products have Razer's Synapse 2.0 to customize stuff on this mouse.. For me, the my best customization is 1800 DPI 2g acceleration, Razer Goliathus Control (review here) mouse mat calibration and mouse button 4 and 5 (the side ones) for macros.  The performance based on these customization is amazing! Made me really good at FPS games because the acceleration makes my mouse precise when I move my mouse slowly but light-speed (still 1800 dpi... lol) when moved fast. This is a really good mouse for the price.

Caring and Maintenance

Well, as for a mouse, you don't need extreme cares for it, but the guide suggests that you should clean the sensor with cotton buds (Q-tips) every month which I rarely do.. :/. And from my personal experience, you should all times use a mouse on a good mouse mat such as razer's or maybe other nice gaming mouse mat or just the normal cloth but not on a coarse surface like the floor or your basketball court.. It really damages your mouse feet (the shiny black polished thingy on the bottom of your mouse) and if the feet is broken, you lose the glide of your mouse... So remember to bring a mouse mat with you at all times.

The day you went to coma...

Well, I take my laptop around a lot so I have to bring my mouse as of I GAME from my laptop not my PC.. So the DeathAdder was taken around a lot especially to school, it was OK, but Razer, if you are reading my article.. which I don't really hope to have you here... please include a mouse bag for us so we can preserve the life of your sexy items longer or else people will feel bad about the durability of these mouse and vow to never buy another Razer product again... For me, today (30/1/2014) the mouse stopped working.. dead. The mouse won't work on any computer, laptop or anything I've tried even though I've bought this baby for a month. I'm pretty disappointed about the durability of it, but the quality of the product is amazing! But really, I know that new products come out often and you want our stuff to broke easily so we can buy a new one form you.. I can certainly understand that since it's a way to boost your marketing. But time-bombing this mouse for a 1- month lifetime? It's ridiculous. Maybe a 6 month or 1 year time bomb is OK... Since the warranty from Ascenti haven't expired, so I might be able to claim a new one so I'm not that angry... Oh yes one ore thing, the cable frays REALLY EASILY after a week of using it everyday, (day 1 to day 7) the cable where the USB is used to plug got really frayed so I have to use tape to wrap around it to preserve it before the whole thing get ruined.

Summary + Score

Well, this mouse a a fairly good mouse with the pros and cons of the following:
Pros: Nice performance, Light weighted, ergonomic, palm grip, large.
Con: HORRIBLE durability

Should I buy it..?

this might be a question for lots of you.. my answer is it depends, if you game mostly at home and don't really unplug this, then yes. But if you travel a lot, please consider a wireless mouse since it will last longer for you unless you are addicted to DeathAdder's awesome ergonomics and comfort.. and you have a buttload of money to waste on. But for me, I'll buy it but if there's a Razer Mamba or Razer Ouroboros next to it, I'd choose one of those two wireless mice, not the DeathAdder.

Score Rating

I'd give it a 7/10... 3 deducted from the durability.. (a month, what the frick..?) that's it

EDIT: I returned the mouse and got a new DA now.. let's see how it goes but everything's ok now though... :) Thanks Ascenti Resources!
